Georgia Insurance License FAQs
Georgia requires at least 8 hours of approved pre-licensing education per line of authority. That means 8 hours for Life, Accident & Sickness, Property, Casualty or Personal Lines alone, and 16 hours for a combined Life/Accident & Sickness or Property & Casualty course. The Adjuster exam also requires the 16-hour P&C course, taken within the last 12 months.
Your Georgia pre-licensing course completion is valid for one year. You must pass the state exam within that year, or you will need to complete the course again. Booking your Pearson VUE exam soon after class, while the material is fresh, gives you the best chance of passing on the first attempt.
Pearson VUE delivers every Georgia insurance licensing exam at its test centers. The fee is $67 per attempt, paid by credit card, debit card or voucher when you book. Fees are non-refundable except under Pearson VUE’s change and cancel policy, so reschedule at least 48 hours ahead if you need to.
You need 70% to pass every Georgia insurance licensing exam, including Life, Accident & Sickness, Property & Casualty, Personal Lines and Adjuster. Single-line exams last two hours. The combined Life/Accident & Sickness and Property & Casualty exams last two and a half hours. Your result is shown at the test center when you finish.
Apply online at sircon.com/georgia using the resident license application. The license fee is $100 plus a $20 processing fee for an agent or adjuster license. After you submit the application, register for fingerprinting with IdentoGO and visit a fingerprint site. Your license is issued once the background check clears.
Yes. New resident applicants must be fingerprinted after submitting their license application on Sircon. Register at ga.state.identogo.com, then take your registration confirmation to an IdentoGO fingerprint location. You pay the fingerprint fee to IdentoGO. Active Georgia licensees and some reinstatement applicants are exempt.
Choose Property & Casualty if you want to sell home, auto or business insurance, or work as a claims adjuster. Choose Life, Accident & Sickness if you want to sell life insurance, annuities or health coverage. Many agents hold both. Our course quiz at rsthomas.com/course-quiz/ recommends a class in under a minute.
Complete a 16-hour Property & Casualty pre-licensing course, then pass the Pearson VUE Adjuster exam (12-GA-24) with 70% or more. Apply on Sircon (license fee $100 plus $20 processing) and complete IdentoGO fingerprinting. CPCU and UCC designation holders are exempt from the course but must still pass the exam.
